HAN SOLO

HAN SOLO
16x20 - acrylics on canvas.

What can you say about Harrison Ford as Han Solo in A NEW HOPE? - I wanted to capture the 'bad-ass' side of him. - I also wanted to play with using lots of solid blacks for a bold contrast - I think it came out pretty cool!

The original canvas is FOR SALE - contact me if you are interested.

Enjoy,
CM

i.FRIEND

i.Friend
16x20 acrylics on canvas.

I started this one over a year ago, and shelved it (after seeing another artist do a very similar painting) after only doing the background - My daughter Hannah fell in love with this from the get-go, and always asks me WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FINISH THE ROBOT? - Well here it is, my original idea was to take a rather innocent robot and add a sinister tone to it with a simple splash of 'blood' across his chest... Hannah made me promise NOT to do that with this new version! - I had the inspiration to reinvent him 'steampunk' style (sans blood) - For my HANNAH! :)

Original is FOR SALE - Contact me if you are interested.

I was asked by TOPPS to do a series of artist cards for there new anniversary card set based on the original 1960's MARS ATTACKS cards - After doing 107 cards, I couldn't get the pesky Martians out of my head - I painted this canvas at a live-painting event in May... I think I'm done with Mars now - HEH

WILLY WONKA

WILLY WONKA (Gene Wilder)
16x20 - acrylics on canvas.

I really wanted to try and capture the 'crazy' side of Wonka in a subtle way- My favorite part of the film is when they are on the Wonka boat - and Wonka recites this crazy poem and shows that he may truly be insane!

I'm not completely happy with the way this piece came out - I may go back into it and fix it...

This amazing piece is FOR SALE - Please contact me if you are interested!

Up, Up and Away!

Christopher Reeve, SUPERMAN portrait.

16 x 20 acrylics on canvas.
I can remember when the film first came out, I saw it 3 times in one day... I have been looking for an excuse to do a piece featuring Chris Reeve as Superman - so this one has been kicking around in my noggin for a long while!

This one took about a week on & off to complete, and I kept changing my mind while I was painting... I kept changing my style and technique... I ended up painting the face 4 different times, and in the end I really happy with how it turned out!

This amazing piece is FOR SALE - Please contact me if you are interested!

JOKER Arkham City

JOKER - Arkham Asylum/City
11 x 14 pencil, pen and ink wash on bristol.
Based on the Batman: Arkham Asylum video game.

COMMISSION - SOLD!

It's been a while since I updated the page - been really busy over the holidays and into the new year. Doing lots of design work (sorry can't post any of that stuff just yet).

I had just finished a comic book cover for BlueWater Comics for their upcoming Julie Newmar series and have another design gig to finish... but I needed a breather and had this commission request from a friend for his son! He wanted the Joker from the game Batman: Arkham City (or Asylum which ever) and well, I couldn't pass up doing another cool Batman piece - of course I had to squeeze in ol' Bats into it!

This one came together really fast, I'd say I put in about an hour on it... I wanted it really loose and 'manic' - pencil with some pitt pen and ink wash, and a whole lot of spatter!
I went in afterward with a brush and some ink and strengthened up the lines - and this really made it pop! - I almost hate to part with it, but an artist has to eat!

Feel free to visit me on FaceBook for even more art, and as always I'm available for commissions!

Enjoy!

The Un-Holy Trinity!

The Un-Holy Trinity, 11 X 15 pen & ink, ink wash on watercolor paper!
DRACULA, WOLF-MAN and FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER.

This one was so much fun to do and it came together in a relatively short time... I just love working in india ink, doing ink wash rather than watercolors. I like the permanence of the ink, it forces me to work fast in laying down the blacks.

To the Batmobiles!

The four commission pieces were done for two awesome BATMAN fans... I never tire of doing the Adam West Batman, and when I'm asked to do a commission based on the TV show, how can I resist?!

All pieces appox 11 X 15, pencil, pen & ink, watercolors, ink wash on watercolor paper!

These pieces were all a bit out of my comfort zone, I'm not a technical artist... I don't do a lot of car stuff. My style is a little more loose, I rarely use a ruler, I prefer the natural lines.
But I think these all came out really great - In a way they were hard to part with, but they went to great homes!
